Zhang Jian's Biography & Awards:

Zhang Jian, 张健，男，山东济南人。1954年出生于教育世家。现任中国书画研究院研究员，当代艺术院名誉院长，山东书法家协会会员。

自幼聪颖好学，酷爱书法艺术，少时从唐楷入手，主攻欧体，旁及颜、柳、赵诸家，后入中国书画高级研修班深造，深得著名书法家、书法理论家陈梗桥老师指点，书艺大进。

作品主张在继承传统的基础上逐步完善自己具有个性化的探索，他楷、行、隶、草皆能，并吸收汉隶之营养，师古不泥，形成行笔沉着，点画苍润，字势跌宕，气韵流畅的艺术特点。

2005年荣获全国纪念抗日战争胜利六十周年书法金奖，被评为全国“金鼎杯”书画比赛百杰书法家。

Zhang Jian, male, from Jinan, Shandong province. He was born in an educational family in 1954. He is currently a researcher of the Chinese Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, honorary president of the Contemporary Art Institute, and a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association.

He is smart and eager to learn from childhood, and passion for calligraphy. Starting from Regular script of Tang dynasty when he was young, he mainly focused on "Ou Yang" style, and style of Yan, Liu, and Zhao families. Then he entered into the advanced training class of Chinese calligraphy and painting. Calligraphy got great progress, after guided by the famous calligrapher and calligraphy theorist Mr. Chen Ganqiao,

Based on traditional skill, his artworks advocates gradually perfecting his own personalized exploration. It’s very easy for him to write well in Regular Script, Clerical Script, Running Script and Cursive Script. Also combine with official script of Han Dynasty. His calligraphy has the majestic atmosphere.

In 2005, he was awarded the National Calligraphy Gold Medal in commemoration of the sixtieth anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance against Japan, and was named the National Best Calligrapher in the "Jinding Cup" Calligraphy and Painting Competition.
